A Walk in the Park at Louhisaari

News: Phones and GPS-devices are now available at Louhisaari ticket office.

Louhisaari manor is open daily until August 31st from 11 to 17.

The idea of garden trails is to guide visitors on large area, where it is impossible to arrange tours or set up info signs. Mobile phones connected to Bluetooth-GPS will guide and give information on certain spots along the trail. Users will orient themselves by seeing their position on map on screen of their phone. Map also shows information spots.

There are three different trails. Cultural-historical trail and Manor life trail have abovementioned structure. On adventure trail phone gives hints for locations, which must then be found. User's position is observed by GPS and when desired location has been found phone gives information and story of that place. User can visit seven spots on each trail.

There are three language options, Finnish, Swedish and English. Trails can be followed with Nokia 6600 series phones. Manor museum has some phones and GPS devices to lend. Cultural-historical trail and Manor life trail can be followed also without GPS, but adventure trail requires one.

Adventure trail's user interface and bluetooth GPS-device. User sees his/hers position on the airphoto map. After reading a hint telling where next spot can be found, the termometer on the left shows how close the spot is.

Once the right spot has been found, a story of it can be read on screen.
