Guides to the cultural heritage in mobile phones

In 2004 the Museum of National Antiquities in Sweden started the project Nordic Handscape, with the aim to find out how we can use mobile technology to access information about the cultural heritage. A future service could be to offer an audio guide in mobile phones on a viking age grave field, or to give access to the cultural databases depending on geographic position.

Supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers, a number of pilot projects is held in the Nordic countries during the summer of 2005. In Sweden the main parts are located in Stockholm, Gamla stan, and Västergötland, in "Arns fotsteps". How the actual services for mobile guiding will be constructed will be described in the report in the end of 2005.

In this website you can find information about the different projects, how they are proceeding and how we think the future will develop.
